Queen of the Night

Queen of the NightMore photo's from our recent trip to Queensland. Colloquially, these are apparently called "Queen of the Night".

This cactus bloomed at night only, by the next day the flowers were dead and a new batch was ready for the following night. It's quite an amazing sight to see these massive flowers appear at night where there where none during the day.

Queen of the Night

The flowers were between 20-30cm across and the cactus had spread all the way up and through the tree easily reaching 10 metres up to the canopy of the tree.
