Sandvox Review

Sandvox is one of a new breed of Website authoring tools that have become available recently. We take a look at it as part of a 3 product review that will also cover iWeb (from Apple) and RapidWeaver. Part 1 - Sandvox is here.

Golf jokes...

There's something about the golfing mentality:

Peter was sitting in the 19th hole one day looking kinda depressed.
The bartender walked up to him and said," What is wrong Peter you look kinda down?"
"Well", Peter replied, "My golfing buddy for 40 years, Craig, had a heart attack on the 16th green today."
"Oh that must have been real hard on you, Peter", the bartender replied.
"Sure was", said Peter,'" It was hit the ball, drag Craig, hit the ball, drag Craig..."

--

A speech-impaired golfer walked up to a threesome on the first tee.
Pulling out his notepad he wrote "Could I join the group, please".
This one chap in the group was most indignant and by ripping up the note, indicated that he was not welcome.
So the threesome hit off and proceeded down to their drives and all hit their second shots and are about to move of when the not so nice one is hit from behind.
His two mates in a state of shock look back to see the vocally challenged golfer jumping up and down and holding four fingers up in the air.

--

It took us by surprise on the 9th hole when Peter stopped in midswing as a funeral procession went by, dropped his club, took off his cap, and bowed his head.
"That was a very nice gesture", said Fred.
"It's the least I can do." said Harry, resuming his stance. "She was the best wife a guy could hope for."

Like I said, there's something about the golfing mentality... and on a final note...

I'm just Geeking out tonight - 14 amateur satellites set to launch June 28th

Technorati Tags: ,

On of my favourite sites Engadget had this great story on 14 amateur CubeSats set to launch June 28th

Literally anyone with US$40,000 can build a kit satellite and then for another $40k get it launched into space!! Arthur C Clarke must be geeking out when he see's things like this going on in the world.

The problem with things like this is not having idea's for your kit satellite's functions but getting your hands on the money to fund it... so close, yet so far.

I must admit I haven't read any of the masters works since "The Trigger" and "The Light of Other Days" - does anyone have any good words for his more recent ones? Like Time's Eye and the sequels Sunstorm or The Last Theorem?

Coolest thing I've heard this week...

I watched the Peter Jackson version of King Kong last night and have had the features disk playing in the background as I'm working here and this line in the production diaries stood out. At week 30 one of the sound guys casually mentions that "the sound effects library at the moment is about half a terabyte, 50,000 sound effects and around 100,000 files", almost immediately after that Melanie Graham states that she has "hours and hours of sound effects she hasn't had time to get into the library yet because we keep going out and getting more"

Now, I don't know about you guys but thats pretty kewl - when I worked at Beyond International back in the mid-90's we spent a small fortune on Avid edit suites and Pro-Tools setups to go into their dedicated production building in Artarmon that Dr Brett co-ordinated the outfitting of. All up I don't think we had half a terabyte - how times change...

Apparently Dr Brett is at D4 right now, lucky so & so!
