Well Parliament is over for this year, John got all of his wishes for Christmas and all I got was this 1100 page IR Reform...
So lets have a look at the stand-out politico's for the 2005 year...
Honourable Mentions
Amanda Vanstone for having the ability to keep her job when most mere mortals would wither in shame at their own incompetency over the sheer number of headlines and issues under her leadership of. She also gets another gong for having possibly the thickest hide in politics and being compared to Aunty Jack.
Natasha Stott Despoja for simply being articulate, knowledgeable and apparently totally ineffectual.
Silver Ballot Paper's
Malcom Turnball for being a backbencher with a big enough wallet set of balls to take on Costello in his own backyard - vis-a-vi cutting the tax rate for us poor working joes.
Barnaby Joyce for either being a politician with moral fibre and the ability to stand against his party for what he believes his constituents want or for the best piece of political showmanship since Winston Churchill.
And the Gold Ballot Paper goes to:
John Howard - Prime Minister with a majority in both houses.
What more is there to say really the man jammed through more legislation in the last 3 months than any government since Federation, besides, he had more votes than the rest of us.
Really its almost enough to make you run for office or maybe the hills...
